Kitty Catastrophe!

“I don’t feel confident that you’re going to help me win this auction, Elina. You don’t understand, this a super rare Care Bear. Only a handful are listed a year.” Lacey sighed with frustration. “I’ve won plenty of auctions by just being patient and having good timing, Lacey. It’ll be alright, don’t worry.” Elina replied confidently. “But there’s only 7 minutes left! It’s all about timing…” Lacey bit her lip.

“Why don’t you let me help? I’ve gotten lucky at winning some auctions before.” Mia said as she looked up from her phone. “It’s okay, we got this. Besides, only two of us can fit on the couch.” Lacey added. 

“Good afternoon everyone! I’m here to announce-“ Janessa began before she was quickly interrupted by Lacey and Elina “NOT NOW!” They shouted together. “Well, that was rude.” Janessa frowned.

“Uh- Janessa…?” Mia turned to look at her, “why are you wearing a raincoat indoors?” “Well, that’s what I was going to tell you, it’s going to rain in an hour. I’m going out for a walk in the rain with Lanie.” Janessa replied excitedly. “You’re….going to walk in the rain…?”

“Of course, I’ve done it a billion times. Why? What’s wrong with that? Honey is coming with me too, she loves walks in the rain. I just have to put on her raincoat.” Janessa asked like it was a totally normal thing. “It’s just- never mind.” Mia looked back down at her phone and went back to texting her brother, Perry. 

“Guess what guys?! The pet shop had a summer sale on kittens and I got this cutie! Her name is-“ Jess walked in with excitement. “NOT NOW!” Lacey and Elina shouted together. “3 minutes…when are you placing the bid, Elina?” She asked her sister. “When it’s less than a minute.” Elina replied calmly. 

“What’s going on in here? I heard shouting.” Marisol asked as she walked into the living room. Jess then noticed Janessa’s outfit, “Janessa, why are you wearing a raincoat?” “Because it’s going to rain in just a bit. Lanie and I are going for a walk in the rain.” She replied with pride.

“Can we please have quiet?! Only a minute and a half now!” Lacey shouted with anxiety, but the others didn’t seem to hear her, or maybe they did and didn’t see how it was an issue.

“Oh yeah, Lanie already gave us the forecast for today Janessa.” Jess added in. “She did, huh?” Janessa looked away dramatically into the distance “well, we had agreed that was going to be my job. She specifically said-“ 

Just then, Licorice, the new cat began meowing angrily at Honey, who then began to growl….

Licorice quickly darted away from Honey and ran to the couch to get away from her, but she went after her. Elina and Lacey were too focused to notice, “I’m placing the bid-“ she was cut off as Licorice jumped up on the couch. “Honey! No!” Janessa cried. “Licorice get off!” Jess shouted in alarm. 

Lacey eyed the cat just as her sister was about to hit enter on the keyboard. “Jess- get your cat off. I swear if she-“ Just as Jess was about to grab Licorice, she leaped onto the keyboard just as the auction ended, and before Elina could hit enter. “NOOOOOO!!!” Both Elina and Lacey cried in devastation and alarm.

First Morning with the New Girls!

It was early in the morning, and Grace was at the stove cooking breakfast for everyone. Most of the girls weren’t awake yet, but Elina and Genevieve were. They both were new to the household, this was their first morning with everyone. 

Kenna rushed into the kitchen “I’m late! I’m so late! Grace, did you pack my-“ her words were cut off by Grace’s response. “Yes, Kenna, your snacks are under the counter and ready for you.” Grace replied without turning around. 

“Thanks, Grace!” Kenna quickly started putting her snacks into her gymnastics bag. She was already late for practice.

“Good Morning, everyone!” Marisol cried happily as she walked into the kitchen. “What a beautiful day it is today!” She was all ready for ballet and had her bag packed. “Breakfast smells delicious, Grace! What are you making?” She asked. “Eggs, pancakes, and bacon.”  Grace replied “there’s also some toast if you’d like some.” “That sounds yummy! Have any of you seen Chrissa? I’m supposed to drop her off at swim practice on my way to dance.” Marisol asked.

“Here I am!” Chrissa smiled as she entered the kitchen. “Do we have time for breakfast?” “We’ll have to grab something on the way, or grab a snack to go. Traffic looks pretty bad this morning.” Marisol sighed. 

Janessa walked in holding her camera “Good Morning, nature lovers! Today is my very first day at my new home! So far, it’s been quite wonderful, but I’m still getting to know everyone.” “Janessa, please no filming at breakfast.” Grace asked without turning her back. This made Janessa frown, so she pointed her camera at Kenna. 

“So Kenna, how do you love life here? How long have you been here?” Janessa inquired. “Toulane is stuck in traffic! Coach is going to be so upset with us!” She let out a sigh. “Sorry- I don’t have time for an interview right now.” She started for the door. 

“But you just said Toulane is late-“ Janessa continued. “You can interview me after practice okay? Gotta go!” Kenna quickly ran out of the kitchen. 

Janessa then turned to Marisol and Chrissa “what about you two? Can I interview you?” She asked hopefully. “Sorry Janessa, we’re already late for practice and traffic is heavy this morning. But we can once we get home.” Marisol replied.

Still not feeling discouraged, Janessa then turned to Grace. “And here is Grace! A professional baker and chef who I live with! We only have the best tasting food here because of Grace!” 

“Care to say a few words, Grace?” Janessa asked as she followed her with her camera. “Uh- Elina, your eggs are ready.” She said as she plated the eggs from the pan to the plate.

Grace then brought them over to Elina who was working on her blog, “Whimsy & Words”. “Thanks, Grace!” Elina spoke softly like she always did. 

Janessa brought the camera over to Elina “and this is Elina! She’s new here too, she also promised to be in one of my nature yoga videos, so make sure you look out for that!” Elina turned to the camera and smiled shyly. “Hi there. I’m Elina! I have a blog called “Whimsy & Words” where I write fantasy stories! I’d love to share my stories with as many people as possible!” “How long have you had your blog?” Janessa inquired. “Since I was 12, so four years. I’ve always loved to write and read fantasy stories, I felt inspired to write my own!” She replied. “Elina- your eggs are going to get cold-“ Grace interjected. “Don’t mind her-“ Janessa said into the camera, “there you have it folks! I’ll link Elina’s blog in the description for anyone who wants to check it out!” 

Meanwhile, Grace poured Genevieve some much needed coffee after a long recording session she had the night before. “Thanks, Grace. I’m so exhausted from yesterday.” She sighed. “How many hours were you recording with Charms?” Grace asked. “14 hours yesterday. Making our first full album has been a hassle. Fun, exciting, but a hassle.” She added.

Lanie then walked into the kitchen cheerfully “good morning. everyone! Oh! Are you filming, Janessa? Would you film my wildflowers? It would be perfect for your channel!” Janessa perked up excitedly “I’d love to! Maybe we can do some morning yoga outside too?” “Only if we can look for birds together.” Lanie smiled. “It’s a deal!” Janessa followed Lanie outside excitedly.

An Afternoon at the Cafe!

 “Hello!” The Hostess greeted warmly, “welcome to The American Girl Cafe! Table for two?” “Yes please, thank you.” Chrissa replied. “Would you like breakfast or lunch menus?” “Breakfast please.” Cecile smiled.

“Here’s your table and your menus. I’ll be with you shortly to get you some drinks. In the meantime, feel free to browse the menu. I’ll be your waitress, my name is Jess.” She said. “Thank you so much!” Cecile replied.

Just then, two more customers walked through the doors and up to the counter. Jess quickly hurried back to assist them. “Hello! Welcome to The American Girl Cafe! Table for two?” She asked. “Yes please. Could we have a lunch menu?” Nicki asked. “Of course! Right this way please.” Jess answered. 

Soon they were seated at their table and began to look over the menu. “Happy Birthday, Marisol!” Nicki cried happily. “I’m so glad I’m here with you today to celebrate.” “Thank you, Nicki. I am too.” Marisol smiled back.

Jess then made her way to the first table. “Can I get you both something to drink first?” “Yes, can I have a raspberry smoothie please?” Chrissa asked. “Of course. Have you decided what you’d like to order?” Jess inquired. “Yes, can I have pancakes with butter and bacon on the side please?” She replied. “Yes, of course.” Jess scribbled down her order onto her notepad.

“What can I get you?” Jess asked as she turned to Cecile. “Can I please have a strawberry milkshake and French toast with a fruit cup on the aide?” She asked as she put her menu down. “Of course, coming right up!” Jess replied. 

Next, Jess made her way over to the other table to take their orders. “What can I get you both?” “Can I please have a pink lemonade and nachos?” Nicki asked. “Of course.” Jess nodded as she wrote down the order. “And for you?” She asked Marisol. “I’ll also have a pink lemonade and a burger please.” Marisol answered. “Coming right up!” Jess smiled as she took their menus. 

Within just a little while, Jess brought the food to both tables. “Here you are! Let me know if you need anything else.” She smiled as she placed the food in front of them. “Thank you so much!” Both girls replied, smiling and eager to try their meals.

Once they had finished eating, Jess dropped off the bill at their tables. Some had wanted to take the rest home in a takeout box. Both friend groups paid the bill and left a nice tip for their waitress. 

“Thank you so much for stopping in to The American Girl Cafe! Have a wonderful afternoon!” Jess said brightly as both parties got their things together to leave. “Thank you, you too!” They replied back with a smile.
